Level 1: Complete

When I don’t have to actually GO to work until 4 in the afternoon, I really hate hearing my alarm go off at 7 a.m. But in this cozy house of mine, it is essential for me to get up that early to take over the living room with jumping jacks & Jillian so I’m finished before the A’s even put their feet on the hardwood floor or consider flipping the TV to the Today show. I respect the conflicting schedules that are happening, and I sacrifice the comfort of my bed to wake up with Jillian every morning. This morning, however, I got to lay around a while because I heard the dripping of the coffee, meaning someone was up before me. Aaahh, the serenity of bed for just a little while longer…Ashley had an early day. And I had to finish level one: 7:30 start.

Ten days down, level one of Jillian’s 30 day shred is complete. I was getting quite tired of doing the same thing everyday. Either my body just got used to it or I am actually getting stronger. I was finally able to do regular pushups for the full 30 seconds both times, so I feel like I have earned the pass to Level 2.

I weighed myself today and found that I haven’t lost any weight, but I didn’t gain any either so I’ll count that as a win. Bill reminds me that it’s only been 10 days. And Leslie says from her knowledge of the reviews that lack of weight loss was one of the biggest complaints about this workout. If I’m gaining muscle and better tone, then I don’t really care about the number on the scale. I haven’t measured myself yet, no appropriate tape measure. I don’t think the metal one we have will work quite well. So, for now, my pants will have to be the judge…

Things on the horizon…

  • backyard garden is almost underway-considering: hot peppers, green peppers, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, egg plant, greens, carrots, any other suggestions (comment on this post please)?
  • Currently beginning to read: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
  • Tower Grove Farmers Market & FREE YOGA begins this Saturday-care to join me?
  • Finals week next week so I’ll be grading my butt off until 5/12, then I’m DONE (for the moment).

This blog has served its purpose as a procrastination tool. Now I have to get back to grading…

    i can’t wait for the farmer’s market saturday!! i’ve been slacking on my jillian. only on #7 of level 2 – so you’ll probably catch up with me! it’s getting easier though – finally. your garden sounds amazing – lots of things i hope to find at the market this weekend. along with some local honey. i heard it’s good for allergy sufferers, one teaspoon a day. pollen from the same area you live will help build antibodies … if i’m saying that correctly. anywho … congrats on passing through level one! and awesome on the push-ups. i only did full ones for one day. now i do half-full ones. no putting my knees down, but i only go half the way down. if i go all the way down, i can’t get back up 🙂
